II Corinthians 12:9-10

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities... for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."

Scar Care and Sunburn

I'm so excited that it's finally summer time, and that means lots of swimming and spending time outside. Swimming is so relaxing on my back, and it keeps me in shape at the same time.

But for me, summer also means sunburn... unfortunately. Usually I use a sun stick only on my scar, and it works really well-- except when I forget to use it. I accidentally left my back exposed to the sun for about an hour, and I paid the consequences for it.

My scar was my only concern. So I did my research, and I'm no expert, but this is what I found.

Scar tissue is more sensitive than normal skin. That's why it's so important to keep sunscreen on. Burning can also discolor the scar in some cases.

Basically, you want to be very careful (whether you have a scar or not). I haven't heard from anywhere that it causes any serious effects, but you should still take good care of your incision. My scar is fine, but I'm not going to make that mistake again!

Lesson learned. Use sunscreen.

Scoliosis Awareness

June is my favorite month of the year! Not only is it the month I was born in, but it's also National Scoliosis Awareness Month.

The fact is, people need to be informed about scoliosis, treatments, and effects of both scoliosis and the treatments.

So this June, I hope you'll join me in my efforts to help those with scoliosis (even if that means simply collecting pop tabs). I've personally been working on different projects, whether it's writing, making videos, or taking part in health activism programs. It doesn't take much to help others, and it's a lot of fun!

Happy National Scoliosis Awareness Month!
